Reusable Gift Tags
Digital pattern and finishing instructions
Give a gift tag that keeps on giving!
This two-sided hand-stitched tag has straps on both sides to hold slips of card stock or paper with gifter and giftee names. Swap out the paper slips and the tag is ready to go again.
The pattern uses 6-strand silk from Dinky Dyes and handmade pearl made from the same threads. Substitute your favorite floss and pearl at will.
The two sides of the tag employ different patterns using the same crescent stitches. I call them the "wave" and "eye" patterns. Because we use the same two stitches repeatedly, you might commit them to memory, making it especially easy to stitch these tags on the go. While you're learning the two stitches, the printed diagrams are small and easy to carry along.
By preparing several grab-and-go project bags, I've been able to amass a collection of these tags just from stitching on the go in small snippets of time spent waiting, traveling, and listening.
Stitch some tags in holiday colors, seasonal colors, wedding colors, and everyone's favorite colors for year-round, all-occasion use.
Convert the tags to ornaments by exchanging the name slips for tiny strips of art, photographs, inspirational sayings, and cutouts from cards.
